Hi friends,
It has been a long time since you have heard from me! I know a lot of you have been waiting for me to get back on here and I appreciate the “gentle prodding” you have given me. There are other trainers and clinicians out there who write on web sites and in magazines all the time, where I don’t. The mule is my heart and my passion and that is where I am at, with the mule. If you are sitting in front of a computer writing all the time then you are not out with the mule. It would be hard to become more knowledgeable about mules sitting in front of a computer. My clinic schedule and my mules at home, keep me away from the computer so I’ll not apologize for that. A lot of things have happened since we last talked. Shari and I have another little boy now. He will start in on his traveling experiences this spring. His big brother is already a seasoned road warrior and would rather go in the big mule truck (as he calls it) than stay home!
This year will be my tenth year of conducting mule clinics. I have been doing mule clinics longer than anyone. I started this long before it was the cool thing to do but I felt that the mule needed someone to help him and there was know one. Since then, we’ve seen others come and go but my true dedication to the mule keeps us going strong year after year.
I have another full clinic schedule again for 2003 and I want to thank all of you who come to my clinics and strive for something better, both for yourselves and your mule. There are and always will be someone preaching the quick fix or selling a mechanical gimmick that will cure all. Some of you will have to check it out and give it a try but because these things don’t work, you’ll be back, trying to achieve a True Understanding of the mule. And for you guys, I will be there to help. As a lot of you know, I’m probably not the most entertaining guy around. I don’t bore you with wild stories or baffle you with b.s. I quietly go about the business of helping the mule by helping the rider understand what and why. If you come to one of my clinics you are coming to learn, not be entertained so be prepared to get your money’s worth.
I have always strived for excellence in my riding and in my mules. I guess that is what makes me who I am and what I am. A result of this is why I was invited to ride at the Tom Dorrance Benefit in Ft. Worth Texas in 2001. You even got to read a little about that event in a mule magazine. In order to participate in that clinic, you had to be invited by Ray Hunt. Every big clinician and horseman you have ever heard of was invited along with several you never heard of. Ironically, what you did not read in the mule magazine was that there was a mule there! I was the only person invited to bring a mule. I really don’t think that Ray Hunt invited me, I think he invited my mule...and I got to go too! The highly respected horsemen that were there will openly admit that they don’t care for mules, so for them to invite a mule to come was one of the greatest honors a mule and her rider could receive. The honor of being invited and accepted there, remains the highlight of my career.
Well friends, it’s time for me to go out to the round pen and check on the halter breaking progress of some colts we are working with. I’m looking forward to seeing you on the road again and helping all of you with your mule. This will be our tenth anniversary clinic tour so come check us out! In the meantime...
Ride with pride,
Brad
